Country Resort la Casa delle Monache

La Casa delle Monache is located inside the Terralcantara farm, in the district of Finaita in the City of Granite (Me). Originally a summer convent for a female monastic order; to this day a part of the architecture bears witness to this antique destination. In the immediate vicinity is the famous Alcantara Botanical Garden and Geological Park with its spectacular Gorge Trail; Etna and its Regional Park (UNESCO heritage) are located about 65 km (1 hour and 20 min.); Taormina at just over 20 km (c.ca 25 min.), Giardini Naxos and the Ionian Sea (the beaches of the first Greek colonists) about 10 km (15 min.), while Catania is 65 km away and Messina 53 km. The surrounding countrysides have been sets for the filming of some scenes from the famous "Godfather" of FF Coppola and the resort is in the heart of the Alcantara Valley which over the centuries has been the road of the principle Sicilian civilization, and is inserted in the Nordic walking circuit called "giroalcantara". The farm is family-run and conducted according to organic farming techniques; the places and the area are ideal for fitness activities, hiking, holism, river sports activities. All activities of the resort and the farm maintain the requirements of sustainability and environmental compatibility and tend to value all human resources, production, historical culture of our territory and to the protection and preservation of nature; also the resort is located within the River Park. La Casa delle Monache is based on the exploitation of typical local recipes and the use of natural products of the company and the territory. Menus feature rich and varied appetizers, tasty first dishes of the Sicilian tradition with the use of fresh handmade pasta, the company's extra virgin olive oil, a wide and qualified variety of meats and cheeses handcrafted by companies throughout the Valley and Nebrodi, drinks and regional beers, traditional Sicilian sweets and jams. In addition, the resort offers a qualified cellar of Sicilian wines and liqueurs.
